This policy explains what information the Food Price Finder app ("the app") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The app is published by Johnston Software Development Inc., Durham Region, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us").
Information we collect
The app has no accounts and does not send your receipts, photos or prices to us.
Camera and photos
The app uses your camera, or a photo you choose from your gallery, to read a grocery receipt. The image is processed on your device and a copy is saved in the app's private storage on your phone, so you can look back at your receipts. Photos are never uploaded.
Receipt text
Text on the receipt is read on your device using Google ML Kit text recognition. The store name, items and prices it finds stay on your device.
Diagnostic information
Google ML Kit sends Google limited diagnostic information so it can measure how well the feature works. This includes device model, operating system version, app package name and version, performance measurements, error codes and a per-installation identifier. It does not include your images or the text on your receipts. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure.
How we use your information
Your receipts are used only on your device to show you the items and prices they contain. We do not sell your information, show ads, or use your information for advertising.
Sharing
We do not receive or share your receipts. ML Kit diagnostic information goes to Google as described above.
Deleting your data
Everything the app keeps is stored on your device. Deleting a receipt in the app removes it and its photo. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app removes everything. There is no account to delete.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you may ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you. Contact us using the details below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
