This policy explains what information the Home Maintenance app ("the app") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The app is published by Johnston Software Development Inc., Durham Region, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us").
Information we collect
Account information
To sync your data, you create an account with your email address and a password. Your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication and is never visible to us.
Your home and maintenance data
The app stores the homes, maintenance tasks and maintenance records you enter. For each home this can include its name, street address and the year it was built, along with any notes you add to tasks and records. Without an account, this data stays on your device. With an account, it is also synced so you can restore it on another device.
Photos
Photos you attach to tasks are stored only on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers.
Reminders
Maintenance reminders are scheduled as notifications on your device. Reminder scheduling does not send information to us.
Usage and device information
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase, which automatically collects information such as app usage events, device model, operating system version, app version and an app instance identifier. We use this to understand how the app is used and to improve it.

We do not sell your information, show ads, or use your information for advertising.
Where your information is stored
Account and synced data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Analytics), operated by Google LLC. Data may be stored and processed on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit.
Sharing
We do not share your information with third parties, except with Google as the service provider that hosts the app's data, or when required by law.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account at any time:
- In the app: open the Account screen and tap Delete Account.
- On the web: submit our account deletion form, no app install needed.
Deleting your account removes your account and all synced homes, tasks and records from our servers. Web requests are processed within 30 days. Data and photos stored on your device are removed when you uninstall the app.
Retention
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, your synced data is permanently removed within 30 days. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics retention settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you may ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you. Contact us using the details below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
