Johnston Software Development was honored to create the website for James Gawley, known as "Jimmy Claws," a renowned special effects expert with an extensive career in the film industry. Our team designed and developed WhosJimmy.com to showcase Jim's impressive portfolio and personal journey. Jim's career highlights include his work on iconic films such as I, Robot, the X-Men series, and Pacific Rim. His innovative special effects and prosthetics have left a lasting impact on the industry. We aimed to capture his legacy by providing a platform that reflects his dedication, creativity, and expertise. The website features detailed accounts of Jim's contributions to the film industry, including his work on the 1991 film JFK, where he designed a prosthetic appliance for the assassination scene under the guidance of Gord Smith from FXSMITH. It also highlights his early fascination with mechanics, starting from disassembling toys at a young age to building go-karts and motorized bicycles in his "Jimmy's Shop." Jim's journey from studying machine shop and drafting in school to refining his machining skills in a prototype shop and eventually creating Wolverine claws for the X-Men films is well documented. His passion for kinetic sculptures, such as clocks without faces, is also showcased, demonstrating his unique approach to timekeeping and his ability to blend art with precision engineering. By developing WhosJimmy.com, we provided a digital space that not only highlights Jim's professional achievements but also celebrates his lifelong passion for mechanics and innovation.
